La Plagne Montalbert has been built in a Savoyarde style and is reasonably pretty. It is north-facing so retains the snow well although at 1,350m is one of the lower altitude resorts of the la Plagne ski area. Montalbert is mainly made up of self-catering apartments, there are some catered ski chalets operated by British tour operators available through the specialist ski travel agent Snow Hounds. |
Ski & Snowboard Access: You can ski or snowboard back to most of the accommodation in Montalbert; in the morning there is a short walk up to the chairlift from the village centre, some of the ski accommodation is ski in ski out.
La Plagne’s main skiing and snowboarding is found further afield. Using the chairlift out of Montalbert, then the Fornelet lift; there is a choice of a red or a blue piste down to another chairlift which allows you to ski into Plagne Centre. On the way home, once at Aime la Plagne you can ski down to the 4-seater Adrets chairlift and then choose between blues and reds for some lovely tree-lined skiing back to Montalbert.
La Plagne is linked to les Arcs by the Vanoise Express to form Paradiski. To take full advantage of the combined Paradiski lift pass it is better to stay in one of the other villages in la Plagne or Les Arcs: Montalbert is at the opposite extreme of the La Plagne ski area to the Vanoise Express link.
