La Plagne 1800 (1800 metres)

 |
Ski chalets in la Plagne are mainly found in Plagne 1800 rather than other high altitude la Plagne villages. La Plagne 1800 provides a great centre for a family ski holiday. Luxury ski chalets can be found in the wooded area just above the village; cheaper ski chalets are found closer to the centre of Plagne 1800. A number of new luxury ski chalets are right next to the Plagne 1800 chairlift including Chalet Pierra Menta, Chalet Mont Blanc and Chalet Sorbier (see below). One of the nice things about Plagne 1800 is that none of the apartment buildings are higher than about five floors and even these are built against the mountain to reduce their visual impact.

Ski & Snowboard Access: The skiing and snowboarding access to la Plagne 1800 is good: there is a bridge over the main road to Plagne Centre and a new piste which means that you can ski back to Plagne 1800. There are three ski runs that come down to Plagne 1800. The old Plagne 1800 chairlift has been replaced with a 4-seater; even at the start of ski school queues are small. A number of the catered chalets are now ski in ski out.

Lots of information is available from the Ski 2 Freedom Foundation. See our unique piste guide for more details of all the skiing in la Plagne. |
